As a huge fan of the beloved SNES game F-Zero, this SNES ROM hacks post is something I’ve been meaning to write for a while now. Why? Well for one, this game is quite possibly one of the most popular SNES games of all time. The other reason is that it’s a classic in its own right, one that I’ve had hours of fun playing over the years. But, it’s not just a fun game. It’s incredibly well executed. The visuals, the music, the story, the track design, the mechanics—all of it is amazing. The SNES version of F-Zero is one of a kind, the only SNES game that is my absolute favorite game of all time.
This is a list of the best hacks that I have tried, and a few that I know of, to the F-Zero SNES rom. I found these hacks on various websites around the internet. If you have any other hacks you know of, or have done and want to share them, please do so.

This list is by no means comprehensive, but it should provide a good starting point for people who want to try out hacks, and follow the links if you want to see what other people have been up to.
Most people think drag racing is all about burning rubber and leaving black stripes around every corner. But you only have to look at F-Zero on the SNES to realize how short-sighted that is. This classic racing game was revolutionary in its time due to its stunning graphics (for the time) and use of advanced sprite scaling to simulate a three-dimensional environment. Sonic the Hedgehog was perhaps the king of speed when it came to side-scrolling. But on the quasi-3D front, the Blue Falcon was a real heavyweight. Take a look at this ROM hack If you’re just diving into the world of ROM hacking, Axnfanatic’s F-Zero is the place to start. There are no visual or musical changes in this ROM hack – just 15 updated tracks for a unique experience that breathes new life into your favorite SNES races. There are some glitches, but that’s part of the fun of ROM hacking! They can be hilarious, and the experience will give you an idea of what to expect from other hacks.
9. Released tracks
Take a look at this ROM hack The extreme speeds of F-Zero races usually make us fail in the first few races. If you’re like me, it’s more like the first 100 races. Before you can take first place in Grand Prix, you must learn to complete your races without blowing up. The training mode is designed for this purpose, but the limited selection of songs can be a problem if you play it for a long time. But this ROM hack only unlocks the 15 tracks so you can improve your skills in training mode. It’s also the perfect hack for those of us who revisit the game when the moon is full and would rather go straight to Firefield than play the whole cup.
8. F-Zero : Perpetual Strengthening
Take a look at this ROM hack Some people think you don’t drive fast enough if you have full control of your car. On a suburban street, this is not necessarily the case. But it’s certainly true for F-Zero. If you want to know what real speed is, then this ROM hack is for you. Prepare for walls at almost every turn as you speed through the game. Not only does the charge not go out, it doesn’t go out. Depending on your skill set, this can be a blessing or a curse. This hack also unlocks White Land II and Firefield in training mode, so you can get a feel for the game before heading to the Grand Prix.
7. Nitezero
Take a look at this ROM hack One of the most beginner-friendly ROM hacks for F-Zero is Nytezero, which offers a new experience for players who are not yet Captain Falcon. No race in F-Zero is without risk. But most people can at least finish the race in nutezero. It is ideal for beginners. It is also ideal for those who hate to skip difficulties in video games. Check it out if you’re new to the series as a whole or if you’re new to SNES games.
6. F-Zero MSU-1
Take a look at this ROM hack The classic SNES didn’t have the most advanced sound quality (by today’s standards). But it lends an undeniable nostalgic appeal to all soundtracks of SNES games – and yet it’s not necessarily the best possible experience. This ROM hack works by emulating the function of the DSP chip in games like Super Mario Kart and Pilotwings, giving these games better sound. You can now replace the classic F-Zero soundtrack with a more modern version. And some of the best options can be found here.
5. F-Zero : Parallel measurement
Take a look at this ROM hack Most F-Zero ROM hacks just recreate the tracks and possibly change the color scheme of the game. But what about the mechanics? Parallel Dimension is borrowing from F-Zero: Maximum Velocity on the GBA and introduced the opposite drift mechanism, which helps you make precise turns. It also supports fast recovery, so you don’t waste time after a failure. The track design isn’t the most creative, but combined with the new drift, it really makes a difference. The newly painted ships are also a highlight. Because, let’s face it, the Blue Falcon looks fiery in pink!
4. F-Zero : Highway of fog
Take a look at this ROM hack In F-Zero, the winner is not the one with the most powerful car, but the one who keeps restarting the game after each race. This is especially true of Nebula Highway, one of the hardest ROM hacks on a classic racer. It contains 15 new tracks that will challenge even the most experienced drivers, and become even more difficult when the Masterclass is unlocked. But it’s not just about the difficulty. There’s also a new main menu and beautiful new color palettes for each title that reflect today’s aesthetic sensibilities. The enemy AI has also received some significant improvements.
3. F-Zero : Revenge
Take a look at this ROM hack As the series evolved, F-Zero became much more complex. To this day, I can barely complete some F-Zero GX tracks without crashing and getting burnt out. But that’s part of the fun! After all, galactic races don’t start until the ships take off. The Revenge is a hack for those who can’t get enough of these exciting challenges. The Grand Prix features a revamped set of tracks with countless hazards, seemingly impossible turns and viciously placed mines that make the Grand Prix a true death race. It’s hard, but not difficult if you have some experience. You just have to pedal until the excitement of speed overcomes your fear of failure!
2. F-Zero Final
Take a look at this ROM hack One of the most ambitious and exciting F-Zero hack projects is F-Zero Final, which changes the competition and track loading so developers can add new tracks instead of changing existing ones. One of the main goals of the project is to bring together the best tracks from other F-Zero games – for example, the BS F-Zero Grand Prix – into one package and add eight ships, custom competitions and an improved visual design. The current beta still has a few bugs (at the time of writing) and doesn’t quite live up to its promise. But it’s definitely a project worth looking at, or trying if you don’t mind starting a beta.
1. F-Zero : Alternating beat
Take a look at this ROM hack The same people who developed the Revenge hack also brought us Alternative Strike. This is a great F-Zero ROM hack with new race tracks and updated graphics. The hack is mainly aimed at challenging experienced players on 15 new tracks with diverse paths, intricate designs and lots of jumps to test your skills – and your timing! It also changes the color scheme of most of the racing seats and each of the four cars. The main menu is also very elegant and much more polished than the original.The original F-Zero (known as F-Zero X in Japan) was a top-down racing game that utilized polygon graphics in lieu of the more common sprite graphics of its time. It was released in 1993 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and it was one of the first SNES games to feature a new form of polygon-based graphics called Mode 7. The game was so popular that it spawned two sequels, as well as a spin-off called F-Zero GX (known as F-Zero AX in Japan). The original SNES version of F-Zero was known for its challenging tracks and high replay value, so you may be surprised to learn some people still haven’t played it. But thanks.
